We have Club Days at our West Melton and Rangiora Airfields that include activity of interest for all family members as well as a lot of exciting flying. We invite a series of exotic aircraft and cars, offer flights in twin engine aircraft and the occasional helicopter hover. This is often an inspiration for young flyers.
We provide a variety of exciting trips for Members to attend either with or without Instructors to remote airstrips, over night stays, North Island adventures as well as opportunities to hire aircraft and join other pilots for your own adventures around New Zealand.
Canterbury Aero Club is an active supporter of the Young Eagles programme developed by Flying New Zealand to give youth (12 to 17-year olds), the opportunity to experience small aeroplane flying in a safe, friendly, and affordable way.
Each month Club Members give their time and share the cost with Young Eagles for a quick flight over the city, trips out West or to other Airfield events. For those wanting a more hands on experience, Instructors are available at Member rates.
Scholarships are available for 15+ year-olds, that have proven aptitude, ability, and attitude to progress their flying honours whether just for fun or for a future career.
So please email Clubinstructors@cac.co.nz to be included on our growing list and for more details.

Around September each year our satellite airfields become a hive of activity preparing for regional and national competitions. Our members take part in a huge variety of events during competitions and have a long history of doing extremely well.
Amongst the various flying activities we hold social evenings, barbecues, movie nights, weekly social evenings and a variety of other events that anyone is welcome to be a part of. This makes the club a warm, welcoming and exciting place to be.
